Investing in Yourself

Therapy is one of the most meaningful investments you can make — in yourself, in your relationships, in the quality of your inner life. I want to be straightforward with you about what that investment looks like, and to make sure cost doesn’t become an unnecessary barrier to getting support.

Private Pay & Out-of-Network Benefits

I am a private pay provider, which means I don’t bill insurance companies directly. This is an intentional choice — it allows us to work without insurance limitations shaping the pace, structure, or focus of our sessions. Your care stays between us.

That said, if you have out-of-network (OON) mental health benefits through your

insurance plan, you may be able to get a significant portion of your session fees reimbursed.

Here’s how it works:

1. You pay for each session at the time of service.

2. I provide you, at your request, with a monthly superbill — a detailed receipt with all the information your insurance needs.

3. You submit the superbill to your insurer for reimbursement.

Many people are surprised by how much their insurance will cover for out-of-network therapy. I encourage you to call the member services number on your insurance card before we begin and ask:

  • “Do I have out-of-network mental health benefits?”
  • “What is my out-of-network deductible, and has it been met?”
  • “What percentage of out-of-network therapy costs will you reimburse?”

You might also use online services to help you check your benefits and submit claims easily.

A Note on Sliding Scale

My ability to offer sliding scale fees is limited, but I believe access to quality mental health care matters. Please refer to The Green Bottle Method, created by Alexis J. Cunningfolk for more information.

If cost is a genuine barrier, please mention it when you reach out. I’ll do my best to find a solution or, if I can’t, to connect you with resources that may better fit your current situation.
